Come Make Baby Booties!
February 23, 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM
Dunbar Center, Room 206
325 W 2nd Street, Tucson
This is an event for The Mourning Project: A community fiber art project to draw attention to the problem of infant mortality in the US.
The project hopes to collect 23,000 pairs of handmade black, white or gray baby booties – one for every baby lost per year in the US. These “little elegies” will become part of a travelling art installation to draw attention to the problem of infant mortality. The United States has the worst infant mortality rate in the developed world.
Sew, Knit or Crochet your booties. Bring your own materials or use ones we will provide.
The VISUAL & TEXTILE ARTS OF TUCSON is providing space for this event.
